Conditions

Hunchback, rounded shoulders, pelvic tilt and forward head tilt are some of the common postural conditions that patients suffer as a result regular everyday activities such as working on the computer, long hours of sitting, long distant driving. Our bodies are compelled to adapt such repetitive activities, forming bad postural conditions over time. Patients with such conditions often suffer from pains, muscle aches, strains, and tension.

Common Orthopedic Disorders

Orthopedic disorders refer to a wide range of conditions that affect the musculoskeletal system, which includes the bones, muscles, joints, ligaments, tendons and nerves

AILMENT

Posterior Pelvic Tilt

Also known as “pelvic tilt” or “flat back posture,” is a condition characterized by the pelvis rotating backward, causing the lower back to flatten or lose its natural curvature. In this posture, the tailbone tucks under, and the buttocks may appear less prominent.

The Symptoms Associated With A Posterior Pelvic Tilt May Include:

Weakness In The Abdominal & Gluteal Muscle

When the muscles in the abdomen and buttocks are weak, they are unable to adequately support the pelvis in its optimal position, leading to a posterior pelvic tilt.

Tight Hip Flexors And Hamstrings

Tightness in the muscles at the front of the hip (hip flexors) and the back of the thigh (hamstrings) can pull the pelvis into a posterior tilt.

Imbalances In The Muscles Around The Pelvis

Muscle imbalances between the front and back of the body can contribute to a posterior pelvic tilt. For example, overactive lower back muscles and underactive abdominal muscles can result in the pelvis tilting backward.

Prolonged Sitting

Sitting for extended periods with poor posture can contribute to muscle imbalances and a posterior pelvic tilt. Sitting with a rounded lower back and slouched posture can weaken the core muscles and tighten the hip flexors.

Flattening of the lower back

The natural inward curve of the lower back may be diminished or completely lost.

Tightness or discomfort in the lower back

The muscles in the lower back may become tight or achy due to the altered posture.

Limited hip mobility

The range of motion in the hips may be restricted, particularly when trying to extend the hip or perform activities that require hip flexibility.

Remember, it’s crucial to consult with a healthcare professional or a qualified therapist for an accurate diagnosis and individualized treatment plan based on your specific condition and needs.

AILMENT

Anterior Pelvic Tilt

Anterior pelvic tilt is a condition characterized by the pelvis tilting forward, causing an exaggerated curvature in the lower back. This posture can have several effects on the body, including:

The Symptoms Associated With Anterior Pelvic Tilt May Include:

Increased Stress On The Lower Back

Anterior pelvic tilt shifts the alignment of the spine, resulting in increased stress on the muscles, ligaments, and discs of the lower back. This can lead to lower back pain and discomfort.

Tight Hip Flexors

Anterior pelvic tilt is often associated with tightness in the hip flexor muscles, which are responsible for bending the hip joint. Tight hip flexors can limit hip mobility and contribute to postural imbalances.

Potential Effects On Other Body Regions

Anterior pelvic tilt can have secondary effects on other areas of the body. For example, it may contribute to rounded shoulders, forward head posture, and tightness in the upper back and neck muscles.

Altered Posture And Appearance

Anterior pelvic tilt can cause the abdomen to protrude forward, making the stomach appear larger than it actually is. This can also lead to a “swayback” appearance with an increased arch in the lower back and a forward head posture.

AILMENT

Internal Rotation Of The Tibia & Femur

Internal rotation of the tibia and femur refers to a specific alignment issue in the lower extremities where the tibia (shinbone) and femur (thighbone) rotate inwardly, causing the feet to point inward.

AILMENT

Distance from the distal interphalangeal joint to the palmar crease

The distance from the distal interphalangeal joint (DIP joint) to the palmar crease can vary between individuals and is influenced by factors such as hand size, anatomy, and individual variations. However, as a general guideline, the average distance from the DIP joint to the palmar crease is approximately 1.5 to 2 centimeters (or 0.6 to 0.8 inches).
